Sing with City of Bristol Choir

City of Bristol Choir is a friendly choir and as a new singer with us you are assured of a warm welcome! Vacancies arise from time to time in all voice parts.

Rehearsals are held during term time on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm until 9.30pm at St Matthew’s Church in Kingsdown.

All singers are auditioned by David Ogden, usually on a Thursday evening before a rehearsal. David will ask you to sing some scales or simple vocal exercises to warm up, you will need to sing a piece you have prepared, and he will give you some sight reading.

If you would like to find out more about joining the choir, please contact the Membership Secretary, Rose Lancaster by email at

City of Bristol Choir scholarships

The choir runs a scholarship scheme for young singers from the age of 16. Singers join the main choir and take part in all rehearsals and concerts. They are provided with all the music free of charge and receive an honorarium towards music lessons and courses.

Suitable candidates may put themselves forward for an audition or can be nominated for one by their music or singing teacher. For more information, or to arrange an audition, please contact the Music Director, David Ogden:
