Beethoven Symphony No. 9

Baritone Michael Davis
The Brunel Sinfonia's fourth season culminates in their first visit to Colston Hall for a thrilling evening of celebration, which will involve 350 performers and which promises to be a memorable experience.
The first half includes a selection of 'Last Night of the Proms' favourites, while the concert concludes with Beethoven's mighty Ninth Symphony. Perhaps the greatest of all works, the 'Choral' Symphony charts the journey from darkness to light and ends with the Ode to Joy, a triumphant celebration of the human spirit that has never been bettered. It was the first time that a major composer had given parity to the human voice and orchestra in a symphonic piece and Bristol's biggest orchestra will be joined by the City of Bristol Choir and choirs from St Mary Redcliffe & Temple School, the Merchants' Academy and Cotham School.
