Mozart's Requiem and Bernstein's Chichester Psalms

A performance of these two very different works - Mozart's Requiem intensely moving and contemplative, containing some stunning choral music, and Bernstein's Chichester Psalms full of joy and jazz-inspired harmonies. City of Bristol Choir is joined by The Bristol Ensemble for the concert in Bristol's Colston Hall.

War Requiem for Remembrance Sunday

Sunday 9th November 2008 at 7.30pm | Colston Hall, Bristol

City of Bristol Choir joins forces with Exultate Singers and young singers from St Mary Redcliffe & Temple School, The Red Maids' School and Westbury-on-Trym Parish Church Choir to perform Benjamin Britten's War Requiem at the Colston Hall in Bristol.

The combined choirs of 250 singers will be joined by the Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra for this Remembrance Sunday concert.

Performance for the Opening of Cabot Circus

Thursday 25th September 2008 at 7.45pm | Cabot Circus, Bristol

City of Bristol Choir teams up with young singers from Merchant's Academy, Withywood and St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School to perform part of David Ogden's Cabot Circus Cantata. The piece is a collaboration between Neville Gabie, the Artist-in-Residence of the development, and David. Together they recorded songs sung in the native languages of workers at the site and David arranged the songs for four part choir. Originally performed in the shell of the shopping centre in October 2007, the choir returns to perform the songs with a brass and percussion ensemble accompanying. Performance outside the new House of Fraser store, open to the public and free of charge.

Gloria! Music for choir and brass by John Rutter

Rutter's exuberant Gloria and his recent setting of the Te Deum performed by City of Bristol Choir and an 11-piece brass ensemble, together with some of his best-known smaller scale pieces, including the Choral Fanfare, Gaelic Blessing, God be in my head and The Lord bless you and keep you.
