Gloria! Music for choir and brass by John Rutter

Saturday 8th March 2008 from 7.30pm
St Alban's Church, Coldharbour Road, Westbury Park, Bristol

John Rutter is the UK's most successful composer of choral music and his compositions are sung all over the world. This concert will feature some of his newest compositions as well as some pieces which have become firm favourites with singers and audiences alike .

The choir will be joined by a 10-piece brass ensemble to perform Rutter's Gloria together with a setting of the Te Deum recently written for Winchester Cathedral and the exuberant setting of Psalm 150 commissioned for the Queen's Golden Jubilee. The sense of celebration and dancing rhythms of the main choir contrast with the reflective, ethereal sections for three solo sopranos, to create a work of great power.

In contrast the choir will sing some of Rutter's best-known smaller pieces including the Choral Fanfare, Gaelic Blessing, God be in my head and The Lord bless you and keep you, as well as some folksong and spiritual arrangements.

Tickets £15 (£13 concessions, £5 under 18s) available from the ticket secretary on 07726 762 070.
